#12 It’s Been Here A While…

The highest legal alcohol drinking age is twenty one, shared by a few countries such as the United States and Sri Lanka. Whilst most countries have the age set at eighteen, there are a few which have an age of sixteen, such as Azerbaijan and Haiti. In some countries, the ages at which someone can consume differ from the age at which they may purchase alcohol and then there are some nations which have different ages for beer and spirits. Of course, whilst there are countries without a legal age limit, in some countries such as Sudan and Saudi Arabia, alcohol is totally illegal.
Alcohol is not merely a terrestrial substance which is limited to Earth, it has also been found in space. About 6500 light years away in a region known as W3(OH), there is a giant cloud of alcohol made up mostly of methyl alcohol (non-drinkable) with a small amount of ethyl alcohol (drinkable).
Evidence of alcohol having been a part of the lives of human beings shows that it has been a very long time since it was first invented. Discovery of late Stone Age jugs seem to point to intentionally fermented beverages existing at least as early as the Neolithic period (about 10,000 BC).
