Recently, news has surfaced of a Japanese farmer who has grown a watermelon that looks like a big ol’ butt. Seasoned producer Mitsuo Shibata explained that during his long career on the land, this is the first occurrence of the oddity he had encountered.
“In my forty-plus years of growing watermelons, this is the first time I’ve seen this shape,” the fifty-eight year old said according to Kotaku.com.
It may seem strange enough and clearly Mr. Shibata was not expecting it however, the phenomenon of conjoined watermelons does seem to be common enough to have its own specific phrase. The Japanese refer to twin watermelons as “futago suika”.
